Catch of the Day

I found myself with an unexpected hour of time to fill today and decide to spend it at Pointe Mouillee. There is a sense of urgency to my visit, because I’m racing against the thunderstorms and heavy rains in the forecast. But this is plenty of time if I move quickly.

The sky is moody, adding to my sense of urgency, but also making for some beautiful photos. Interesting rocks and barren winter trees emerge from an expansive background of water and sky. The simple palette of blues, grays and tans is both calming and seductive. It’s so spare, but there is so much to see and capture.

After walking as far as I can go with my time limitations, I notice a lone fisherman off in the distance, and I know I have the shot that perfectly captures the vibe of this place. The expansiveness, the quietude, the simple pleasure of being here.

I leave, excited about my catch of the day, and head home in plenty of time to beat the storm.
