Back in the Game
Fully rested and ready to go.
After a strong start to the New Year, a nasty cold took me down for a full week. I’m back at it this week and so happy to be healthy again. A beautiful snowfall gave me the perfect backdrop for my return and for a snowy selfie.
Quiet as a Moose
Moose rests in the coziest spot in the house.
I couldn’t resist taking these shots of Moose resting quietly in the kitchen, in the warmest spot in the house. There is a heat vent at the base of the cabinets next to him, not visible in the photo, and the dogs frequent this spot for that reason. I felt bad interrupting his nap but he went right back to sleep.
Coffee Break
Ringo and Moose join me for my carbs and coffee break.
Ringo and Moose move in on my carbs and coffee break. I didn’t share my English muffin with them, but I did reward them with a treat for their role in creating today’s fun photos.
A Brisk Walk with Rocky
I got some extra steps in with the Rockstar today.
I took Rocky to Willow Metropark today and we had a nice but brisk walk in the winter weather. The temperatures are dropping and it will continue to get colder each day this week. Warmer and wet weather earlier this week made for muddy trail conditions, but the ground was frozen today which made walking more enjoyable, even with the colder temperatures.
A base layer under my clothes made it doable, but removing my gloves for photos was challenging. I kept the photo session brief and managed to get this lovely shot of the Rockstar posing on the winter landscape.
New Year’s Day Ride with Ringo
A new year begins with Ringo at my side.
I started the year off right with a fun day trip to Willow Metropark with my go-dog. A light snow set the mood for a winter walk, and of course, we took some time at the end for photos. Ringo aced his signature shot peeking out the back window of my 2007 FJ Cruiser. He also turned out a few more fun shots, below.
Merry Moose
A celebration photo!
I wanted a celebratory photo to mark Moose’s graduation from advanced dog training yesterday, and I figured a shot in the jingle bell collar was better than the awkward graduation hats that are typically used for the occasion. He crushed his final exam, and today is all about relaxing and having fun after successfully completing over 40 weeks of training at the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Congratulations Moose!
Hello Winter
A break in the weather gives me an opening for an outdoor winter portrait.
After a mild November, December brought clouds, high winds and bitter cold temps. Today’s sunny blue skies brought some relief and made being outside tolerable for the first time in weeks. The break in the weather gave me an opportunity for an outdoor portrait in the beautiful winter sunshine. ☀️
Portrait Pros
Rocky and Ringo set up another great shot.
Rocky and Ringo are both masters at posing for portraits, whether posing alone or as a team. I just can’t resist these shots when they are set up so perfectly for me. ❤️
Holiday Spirit with Ringo
Ringo crushed his training ride and his Christmas photo.
Ringo and I had a fantastic training ride today. It was a bit too cold for a long walk outdoors, so I decided to take Ringo for some retail visits. We got into the holiday spirit at Lowe’s, where we were surrounded by Christmas trees, wreaths and enormous inflatables of The Grinch and Snoopy. From there, we finally made it through Petsmart for the first time, which is a huge win for Ringo. Ringo’s stellar performance continued with today’s photo in his signature pose peeking out the back window of my 2007 FJ Cruiser. ❤️
Happy Thanksgiving
And happy birthday, Ringo!
I hit the gym early this morning, got in a mid-morning run, then I spent the rest of the day cooking a ton of food. So it seems like any other day around here. 😂
But it’s also Thanksgiving Day and the day we celebrate Ringo‘s birthday.
Ringo is now three years old. His “official” birthday estimated by the shelter during his intake process is November 25 2021, which happened to fall on Thanksgiving Day his birth year. Since it’s just an estimate, I decided to celebrate his birthday on Thanksgiving Day every year.
It was also a cheat day for me, but I’ll be back to my healthy diet tomorrow while everyone else enjoys the leftovers.
Whispers of Winter
Our first day of winter weather, cold enough for gloves.
A snowy mist was falling as Rocky and I headed out for a trip to Willow Metropark today, and the air was cold and damp. We lucked out for most of November with unseasonably sunny and warm weather. Today’s wintry weather marked the first day of the season that I had to wear gloves, which had to be removed to capture this gorgeous shot of Rocky.
A Rain Check for Rocky
The weather cleared up for Rocky today.
It rained all day yesterday so Rocky’s regularly scheduled day trip got rained out. While Ringo and I have a rain or shine policy for his weekly trips, Rocky is not a fan of the rain so he took a rain check yesterday. The weather cleared up today for Rocky and we took a ride to Willow Metropark and hit the leaf-covered trails.
The leaves made a colorful background for the beautiful shot of Rocky above. Below, Rocky turns up the drama with his signature pose - a profile shot with that faraway look in his eyes. I love capturing these shots of him from the side as it really shows off that big, beautiful, blocky head. 😂
Rainy Day Dogs
It rained all day today.
A day of rain changed our plans and allowed me to capture some quiet indoor shots of the dogs.
Morning Ride with Ringo
It was a beautiful morning at Willow Metropark.
Ringo and I took a ride to Willow Metropark this morning. We had beautiful weather as we hit the trails, the ground covered in a thick carpet of copper colored leaves. As usual, Ringo indulged me in a brief photo session before we headed home, adding another fabulous signature shot to the Ringo on the Go collection.
Afternoon Hike with Moose
Moose is a great trail dog.
Moose and I took a long walk at Willow Metropark today and explored some new trails together. We had a great time and he sat nicely for several great photos along the way. It was a perfect day for some extra steps and outdoor time for both of us.
Fall Colors with Ringo
A beautiful day with my go-dog.
Ringo and I took a drive through Lower Huron Metropark and enjoyed the fall colors. In today’s photos, he poses for his signature shot surrounded by the beautiful shades of orange and yellow that could be seen throughout the park during our drive.
Rocktober
Rocky poses for some gorgeous October portraits.
These gorgeous portraits feature Rocky enjoying a beautiful October afternoon. He is a rockstar when it comes to modeling, offering up great poses of his own and also responding perfectly to prompts from the photographer. The conditions were perfect for photography today and I also got some great shots of Moose and Ringo.
Ringo Wants to Play
I finally captured a play bow.
Play bows happen fast. The quick drop to the ground inviting another dog to play is over in an instant before the dogs are wildly chasing each other around the back yard. I finally captured a play bow today with my camera, featuring the most playful dog of all - Ringo.
Happy Moose
He’s always ready with a smile. 😀
Moose is still learning the ropes as a model but he is always ready with a smile. 😀
Feels Like Fall
Just me enjoying the fall weather.
It was a gorgeous fall day and felt like the perfect time to take a self portrait. 😀
