Recovery Mode

Moose just underwent his third surgery this year. In July, he had TPLO surgery on his right leg to repair a torn ACL. Last month, the metal brace implanted during the surgery had to be removed as Moose developed an infection in response to the brace. As he healed from this second surgery, he blew out the ACL on the left side.

I knew the left knee would likely go at some point, because the vet warned me about this likelihood, but the timing caught me by surprise. I was ready for Moose to move out of recovery mode, but here we are again, recovering from TPLO surgery, this time on the left side. We’ve got a long healing process ahead of us, but at the end he will be stronger than ever.

Between Moose’s and my own injuries, ‘25 has been a year of recovery, requiring patience I didn’t know I possessed. I am looking forward to ‘26 as a year of getting back in action and returning to higher levels of physical activity and intensity.
